Who we are

Three Routes (threeroutes.ca) is an independent, unfunded project based in Canada. Contact: [email protected]. We are not affiliated with any college, university, school board or employer.

What we collect, and when

  • Nothing, by default. The quiz, results, readiness check and parent page run on your device. Your answers are stored in your browser only.
  • When you sign up: your email, your role (student, parent, counsellor, employer), your questionnaire answers, your quiz answers and the three pathways shown to you, and your readiness answers if you did one. Students under 18 are asked for a parent's or guardian's email instead of their own.
  • When an organisation posts an opening: organisation name, contact name, work email, phone if given, region, role and requirements.
  • Usage: we count page views and a few actions (quiz finished, readiness check finished, email sent, opening posted) with Google Analytics. It sets one first-party analytics cookie (_ga) so repeat visits aren't counted as new people; IP addresses are anonymised, advertising features are off, and nothing in it identifies you. Visitors who choose Quebec in the province picker are counted without the cookie. Block cookies in your browser and the site still works.

What we use it for

  • To email you once when the verified version launches, and occasionally to ask what we got wrong.
  • To introduce students to employers, unions or programs, only if the student has said yes to introductions and confirms each one. Employers never see a student who has not opted in.
  • To improve the tool: which questions confuse people, which pathways get opened, which numbers get challenged.

What we never do

  • Sell or rent your data. Ever.
  • Let anyone pay to influence which pathways you're shown or how they're ranked.
  • Share a minor's information with any organisation.
  • Send marketing on behalf of colleges or employers.

Where it lives and how long

Data is stored with Supabase (hosted database) and, for email delivery, our email provider. Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 30 days. Confirmed sign-ups are kept until you ask us to delete them or for two years of inactivity, whichever comes first. Follow-up survey answers are kept in anonymised form for research.

Your rights

Ask us what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, by emailing [email protected]. We reply within 30 days. This policy follows Canada's PIPEDA principles; if you're in Quebec, Law 25 applies and the same contact handles requests.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we'll email confirmed sign-ups before it takes effect.
